Monumental Symbols of Empowerment Arrive Oakland

Kindred Arts and Oakland Coalition invites you to a special VIP preview of Monumental Tour in honor of Black History Month. The installation of two extraordinary sculptures— Hank Willis Thomas’ All Power to All People and Arthur Jafa’s Big Wheel— celebrates and commemorates the history of Oakland and salutes the community organizers currently driving racial equity efforts .

The VIP preview will take place Saturday February 27 and Sunday February 28 at 4400 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94609. Please sign up for a timed slot, allowing for safe and comfortable viewing. Non transferable invites also allow for one additional guest.

The entirety of the event will take place outdoors. Visitors must wear a mask and maintain distance from others.

The installation will open to the public on March 5th and will be on view through May 17, 2021, accompanied by outdoor and virtual program series.

To learn more about the works and for information on public programs, visit www.monumentaltour.org. The installations were made possible with support from a coalition of organizations including, Critical Resistance, Black Joy Parade, For Freedoms, and Artist As First Responder.

We hope you will join us in recognizing these monumental symbols of empowerment and the role of Oakland in advancing racial justice.

In solidarity,
