July 22 thru August 12
8 Arm -710 PONCE DE LEON AVE, NE ATL, 30306
All Power will be Located just east of downtown, right behind Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline in the Old Fourth Ward area. In an area originally settled in the early 1800s, Old Fourth Ward is the birthplace of America's best-known civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Atlanta remains an epicenter of Black culture in America and rich in civil rights history. It is home to four of the nation’s oldest and leading HBCU’s. And in the heart of Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood — the birth home and burial site of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the first stop for All Power to All People.
Concentrated along a short mile and a half of Auburn Avenue is a reflection of the history, heritage, and achievements of Atlanta's African Americans. Like other Black communities throughout the country, Sweet Auburn's success was intricately tied to the residential patterns forced on African Americans during the early 20th century — the result of restrictive laws in southern states which enforced segregation of the races, known as Jim Crow laws. It was here that many African Americans established businesses, congregations, and social organizations.
Coined the "richest Negro street in the world" in 1956, today, it is one of the largest concentrations of Black owned businesses in the United States and a National Historic Landmark District. The 1976 designation covers 19 acres (7.7 ha) of the neighborhood, preserving the history and development as a segregated area under the state's Jim Crow laws.
